Adult Literacy

The underprivileged women who have either never got the opportunity to attend school or dropped out of school are the main focal point of this project and has gained popularity in the community. The centre provides functional literacy skills required for the day to day life. 3R’s, Reading, Writing and Arithmatic are being taught to them. Vernacular and English are also being taught. Discourses on pertinent life issues such as women’s rights, gender sensitivity, seasonal diseases and preventive measures, low cost nutritious diet, socio-legal aid services and small saving schemes including banking are held at regular intervals. The centre caters to the health need of the learners. Thorough health checkup of these women is done by qualified doctors.

These women are also taken on educational excursion and observe the National days. The centre also provides play materials and open space for children who accompany their mothers to the centre. While mothers are busy at the literacy session children can have their own time playing together without disturbing their mothers.
